Patients' Choice Medical Center of Claiborne County
Claiborne County hospital under Rural Healthcare Development management
On October 1, 2008, Rural Healthcare Developers entered into a long-term lease with the Claiborne County Board of Supervisors to manage Claiborne County Hospital. The hospital was renamed Patients' Choice Medical Center of Claiborne County.
The hospital has had a long history of service to Claiborne County residents. PCMC-CC is a 25-bed critical access facility that provides acute care and emergency services; inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services. Other outpatient programs include respiratory and physical therapy.
Under the management of Rural Healthcare Developers, major improvements have been made in the physical structure to make the facility more functional for the delivery of quality healthcare services. New and upgraded equipment has been installed in the hospital including a new chemical analysis machine to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
The hospital has added a chemical detox unit to assist patients needing treatment for chemical dependency.
Aligned with the committment of RHD to providing much needed behavioral health services to an ever aging population, special emphasis has been focused on improvement in inpatient senior care. Outpatient services have been added for those who need therapy but do not need hospitalization.
Additional commitment is being made to providing transportation to those who need treatment. PCMCCC operates three vehicles for transporting patients to the outpatient programs, picking patients up in the morning and returing them home in the afternoon. Transporation is also provided for those who are referred to the inpatient programs.
